I discovered Discovery on social media a week ago. Just like everyone else, I, too was sceptical about their claims and how one would feel the difference in just one single session. Though sounds too good to be true, I decided to try out their discounted trial session. The result?. I was completely sold. It wasn't an intense workout but it woke up all my lazy muscles and i was perspiring in an air conditioning room. I have just completed my second session of their signature private package this morning and something miraculously happened...I was able to touch my toes while I bent my body. "I returned to pilates early this year after being away from organised treatment for two years. I was diagnosed with severe sciatica 15 years ago and had cardiac bypass surgery four years ago. Both of these conditions require constant attention and rehabilitation. While they are different problems just general exercise and nutrition is not sufficient. Pain medication for bad days is not a solution only a short term block.
At 71 years of age my battery of docs commend my physical training but suggested more concentrated and specific attention. Other therapists have helped from time to time but none have solved flexibility and pain issues. I decided to join my wife at Discovery due to her confidence in their ability to help with problems and to understand her discomforts. My reluctance was quickly dissolved.
I found as my sessions progressed that the therapists had listened and were addressing my problems specifically. I have had lower back pain for 15 years. Sometimes just a stiffness in the morning but severe enough to quit golf after 45 years. Now there is NO back pain. My left side weakened by heart surgery is strengthening.

“In late 2016, I hurt my tailbone after slipping off from a pool’s ladder. I couldn’t sit and lay down properly without feeling pins and needles on my lower and upper back. Went for XRay and the doctor suggested MRI as he suspected I may have slipped disc. I was so miserable, for what it seems that my world is about to end (imagine not being able to sit/ stand/ sleep comfortably for more than 15 mins!).

“I was diagnosed with a 3.5cm brain tumour 20 years ago, and underwent a major brain surgery 5 days after dianosis. In a way I was lucky because the tumour was not cancerous. To cut the story short, complications took place in the second and third year after the brain surgery. This resulted in living with paralysis. With intensive physiotherapy including hydrotherapy I made progress from being bedridden, wheelchair bound and walking aid at present.
I felt it was time for me to look for something extra in my physio routine, that’s when I found Discovery Pilates and Physiotherapy Centre. In March 2018 I attended an assessment session and since then I made a point to attend every week. After spending so much time in exercise all these years, I was hoping a breakthrough which will improve my overall mobility, and I have a feeling I have found it in Discovery Pilates and Physiotherapy Centre. Credits and cheers to the teachers in the studio, who tortured me every session and gave me homeworks after each session for me to practise at home. “I’m a 52 year old woman who started going to Discovery Pilates & Physiotherapy Centre in 2017, as I was suffering from chronic knee pain, which caused severe pain in my hip, and it got to a stage that it hurt even to bend down. I am addicted to the classes as I feel the results.
The studio is beautiful. High-end equipment and beautifully designed premises. I began with private sessions where the expert instructors taught me the correct technique, not only with the positions on and off Reformer, but also with breathing. Individual corrections were recommended and given by the instructors. After a number of private sessions which I recommend, I ‘graduated’ to group classes. I was at first reluctant to leave by one-on-one classes as the instructors were patient, knowledgeable, and encouraging and I felt very comfortable, however I was persuaded! The group classes were full of people of all ages and it’s not at all intimidating. The classes are small so you still get the individual one-on-one assistance and advice throughout the class. Most, if not all, of the instructors are trained phyiotherapists and they are excellent, professional and lovely people.
Pilates is very much an important part of my physical and mental well-being. I try and attend a group class 2-3 times a week and I certainly feel the benefits. My chronic knee and hip pains have disappeared. My flexibility and posture greatly improved, as is my core strength and mental well-being. Pilates is now an integral part of my life. As Keath keeps saying, “it’s anti-ageing!”
I certainly don’t feel 52 anymore!

2 days ago I restarted my run and had a sharp pain on my right knee after just 3 km. Took the joy out of running.
Keath treated me yesterday, and he didn’t lay a single finger on my trigger pain site (unlike the usual way of direct massage that I am so accustomed to) but rather he treated me through the power of observation.
He noticed from the moment I walked into the studio, my right leg was in constant external rotation and hence I was walking like a duck! Which will exert more pressure on my knee.
Long story short, he reconditioned my muscles and strengthen other areas and taught me how to be less duckish.

My 86 year-old father, Dr Mohamed Yunus, had been complaining of lower back pain for several weeks. He had tried several different remedies, such as using an infrared heat lamp, yoga, medication and finally resorted to wearing a corset under his clothes to help with the pain, all these to no avail. He was very upset as he is normally an active man. His back pain would even keep him up at night.
Intially he was skeptical that Pilates would help he had been to a chiropractor and he thought that Pilates was similar and would be of no help either.
After the very first session at your studio with Eman, he came out of the room with a big smile waving his hands in the air, demonstrating how ‘loose and free’ his back felt.
