DSCVRY™ Signature Program ABMUS™ Pilates is a unique and systematic movement principles program designed by Keath after his own experience of back pain.

Keath holds a degree in Psychology from University of Stirling, UK. After graduating he pursued performing arts involving himself in theatre and movement. He holds Pilates certifications from Polestar Pilates and Balanced Body as well as Yoga certification from Yogaworks, US. He is also trained in Gyrokinesis®️ and Gyrotonic®️. He is also a Level 1 Franklin Method Teacher.

In 2007 Keath suffered three major episodes of back pains. He seeked help from various medical professionals but to no avail. The pain remained. He couldn’t sit or stand for long. The pain was constant. Slowly the pain began to travel down the leg with a numbing feeling. Being young and a regular exerciser, this was confusing to him. What was happening?

His experience with back pain made him reflect on his own training and the health and fitness industry. DSCVRY™️ Signature Program ABMUS™ Pilates was borne after a deeper understanding of the essence of movement principles i.e how our bodies should move and what we have not being taught before be it by doctors, therapists, trainers, etc.

Key Reflections:

Our bodies work very much like a machine. It needs to be oiled and maintained well. When we do that the machine will serve us well, when it doesn’t it will break down. New clients to our centre will first of all undergo our signature programs ABMUS™ Pilates whereby our therapists will assess your posture and movement through a series of carefully selected exercises. Our unique signature program has consistently produced significant results in terms of pain reduction and how one feels and looks, leaving you feeling lighter, longer, leaner and happier every session! 

Book your session at a time that is convenient for you and our professional physiotherapists and movement specialists will advise you accordingly thereafter. A full session is 55 mins. Bring with you exercise attire and a pair of socks and be prepared to experience a NEW you!

New clients will complete our compulsory signature Starter Private Package 3 sessions before entering group classes. Our unique program, systematically designed by founder and director Keath Lau is a safe program suitable for all levels. PRE and POST NATAL Program

DSCVRY™ Signature Program ABMUS Pilates is great to eliminate backaches often experienced by expectant mothers who have to deal with the extra weight. It also prepares you for motherhood building strong arms and legs to handle the baby, prams, bags etc! Finally our signature program will also help you to shed off the extra pounds you may have put on during pregnancy. Our team of physiotherapists will also give you a thorough assessment of the condition diastasis recti occurred often post pregnancy and often associated with incontinence and pelvic floor issues.

 

A specific issue which my instructors identified and worked to resolve was split abdominal muscles (diastasis recti) following pregnancy. I cannot stress enough how amazing they were in providing me with the right exercises and instruction to heal my abdominals. "I returned to DSCVRY™ early this year after being away from organised treatment for two years. I was diagnosed with severe sciatica 15 years ago and had cardiac bypass surgery four years ago. Both of these conditions require constant attention and rehabilitation. While they are different problems just general exercise and nutrition is not sufficient. Pain medication for bad days is not a solution only a short term block.

At 71 years of age my battery of docs commend my physical training but suggested more concentrated and specific attention. Other therapists have helped from time to time but none have solved flexibility and pain issues. I decided to join my wife at

I started coming here looking for Pilates near my house because I was working from home due to the coronavirus and my back hurt.

“In late 2016, I hurt my tailbone after slipping off from a pool’s ladder. I couldn’t sit and lay down properly without feeling pins and needles on my lower and upper back. Went for XRay and the doctor suggested MRI as he suspected I may have slipped disc. I was diagnosed with a 3.5cm brain tumour 20 years ago, and underwent a major brain surgery 5 days after diagnosis. In a way I was lucky because the tumour was not cancerous. To cut the story short, complications took place in the second and third year after the brain surgery. This resulted in living with paralysis. With intensive physiotherapy including hydrotherapy I made progress from being bedridden, wheelchair bound and walking aid at present.

“I’m a 52 year old woman who started going to DSCVRY™ in 2017, as I was suffering from chronic knee pain, which caused severe pain in my hip, and it got to a stage that it hurt even to bend down. I am addicted to the classes as I feel the results.

The studio is beautiful. High-end equipment and beautifully designed premises. I began with private sessions where the expert instructors taught me the correct technique, not only with the positions on and off Reformer, but also with breathing. Individual corrections were recommended and given by the instructors. After a number of private sessions which I recommend, I ‘graduated’ to group classes. I was at first reluctant to leave by one-on-one classes as the instructors were patient, knowledgeable, and encouraging and I felt very comfortable, however I was persuaded! The group classes were full of people of all ages and it’s not at all intimidating. The classes are small so you still get the individual one-on-one assistance and advice throughout the class. My 86 year-old father, Dr Mohamed Yunus, had been complaining of lower back pain for several weeks. What is DSCVRY™ Signature Program ABMUS™ Pilates?

DSCVRY™ Signature Program ABMUS Pilates is a unique and systematic movement principles program designed by Keath after his own experience of back pain. DSCVRY™ Signature Program ABMUS Pilates was borne after a deeper understanding of the essence of movement principles i.e how our bodies should move and what we have not being taught before, be it by doctors, therapists, trainers, etc. When done well, you will feel the difference in as short as 30 mins, leaving you feeling pain-free, lighter, taller, longer and happier.

Can anyone do DSCVRY™ Signature Program ABMUS™ Pilates?

DSCVRY™ Signature Program ABMUS Pilates is generally safe and effective unless directed by doctor due to illness or injury, it can be performed by anyone. The exercises are done in a controlled manner under the guidance of a teacher making it accessible for any age and fitness level. There are specific classes for beginners and advance clients. Being low impact, it is also particularly suitable for pre and post–natal women.

How do we conduct our sessions?

Under the guidance of our therapists, DSCVRY™ Signature Program ABMUS Pilates aims to create precise and controlled yet flowing and elegant movements. 

New clients to our studio will undergo a trial session whereby our physiotherapists and movement specialists will assess your posture and movement through a series of exercises. Our unique DSCVRY™ Signature Program Program ABMUS Pilates has consistently produced significant results in terms of how clients feel and look, leaving them feeling lighter, longer, leaner and happier in only 30 minutes. A full session is 55 mins. Please contact us to enjoy a discounted first time trial session. 

Entry to group class is subject to approval of the instructor. 

How are your therapists trained?

Our therapists are certified Physiotherapists, graduates of university programs approved by Malaysian Ministry of Health. As well as being physiotherapists, they have been trained in DSCVRY™ Signature Program ABMUS Pilates.

We believe that a good teacher is a knowledgeable one hence we continue to invest in courses and seminars annually, to keep abreast with latest knowledge in human biomechanics.

At DSCVRY™ we believe in fair and affordable prices so that everyone may enjoy and benefit from our program. We are one of the few in town that offer the most competitive rates with multiple options for you to choose from. Our prices range from RM50 to RM250 depending on the different packages.  

What do I wear?

We recommend that your wear comfortable clothing which are not too baggy. We need to see your body so that we may check you form and alignment. Socks are required for all classes for hygiene purpose. 

How often should I do DSCVRY™ ?

We recommend at least twice a week; three times a week is optimal. Doing the session several times a week will help you learn the technique and rhythm faster and more effectively.

Can I lose weight by doing DSCVRY™ Signature Program ABMUS™ Pilates?

DSCVRY™ Signature Program ABMUS™ Pilates forms the right foundation for dynamic activities needed for weight loss. After bringing your body to a more optimal level through our 'healing and restoring' phase we strive to push your limits through our 'discover and fulfill your potential' phase. We have a variety of exercises and equipment to challenge you and keep your workout new and refreshing. You shall feel refreshed yet challenged at the end of the session!

General Policies 

1.    Upon entry shoes are to be left outside. Shoes are not allowed in the rooms. 

2.    Children below the age of twelve (12) are not allowed in the private or group rooms, except as clients participating in the exercise program. 

3.    Kindly leave your belongings in the lockers and keep the key in the designated storage space. DSCVRY™ will not be held liable for any loss or damage. 

4.    Mobile phones are not allowed in the studio. They must be kept on silent and left in the locker. 

5.    DSCVRY™ will not tolerate any form of harassment or discrimination (verbal, physical, sexual, race, gender, national origin, etc). We reserve the right to terminate clients whose behaviour affect the harmony of the centre.

 

Classes Policies 

1.    All sessions are strictly by appointment only.  To book your session please WhatsApp us at 012 5480284 (Ampang) and 0129364800 (Subang) during our stated operating hours. To avoid miscommunication please keep ONE channel of communication only.  

2.   Entry to group class is subject to approval of the instructor.

3.    Sessions must be payable in advance. 

4.    Classes are 55 mins. Should you have any questions regarding your condition(s) or exercises, please do so before the end of the session. 

5.    Clients are to arrive latest by ten (10) minutes before their scheduled session. We regret that we will not be able to extend your session if you are late for your session. 

6.    To ensure that the program is effective all packages are based on an attendance commitment of at least once a week. For example DSCVRY™ Signature Private 3 sessions is valid for 3 weeks. All the sessions must be completed within the stipulated time. We advise you to plan accordingly as failure to do so will result in the sessions being forfeited.

7.    Group classes consist of a minimum of three (3). If you are forming your own group and would like to keep your group exclusive a minimum number of five (5) participants is needed. Otherwise, the management reserves the right to add other participants into existing groups. 

8.    We reserve the right to substitute therapists without any prior notice. We regret that we will not be able to allocate a permanent therapist for your entire program.  

9.    Clients are entitled to a complimentary session when new clients they introduced buy a package at DSCVRY™. The complimentary session can be used when they have existing package excluding the Private and Duet starter package.

Cancellation Policie

10.  A reminder will be sent a day before your appointment. Your session is not confirmed until we hear from you. Please check with us if you do not receive the reminder. If you wish to cancel or rearrange a scheduled session, kindly whatsapp us BEFORE 4PM a day before your scheduled session, failing which, the particular session may be forfeited.

11.  Sessions are strictly non-transferable or non-refundable. 

 

Attire 

1.    Please wear exercise clothing that is sufficiently tight-fitting to enable your instructor to see your body alignment. No oversized t-shirt please! 

2.    For hygiene purposes, socks are compulsory to be worn at all times during classes. Socks are available for sale in the event if you do not have any. We recommend non-slip and open/closed toes socks as they provide grip and allow individual toes to be visible. 

 

Etiquette 

1.    Please keep your voice down when you are in the centre. 

2.    For hygiene purpose, please spray disinfectant on the towel and wipe the equipment after use. We believe that you would appreciate the client before you to have done the same courtesy. Please do not spray on the machine.
